Delta College Earns Birth in the NJCAA District 10 Tournament With a Win Over Henry Ford
Delta College earned a spot in the NJCAA district 10 Tournament on Monday as they defeated the Hawks of Henry Ford Community College, 72-68.
The Pioneers and Hawks both advance to the NJCAA District 10 Tournament that starts Tuesday, March 4, 2014. In a game that was close throughout, the Hawks went to the locker room with a 35-33 halftime lead. But, with a Tournament birth at stake, the Pioneers and Hawks played a strong second half with no more than five points separating them. Delta, who did not go to the free throw line the entire first half, made good by knocking down 19 of 22 charity tosses in the second half with 5 of 6 coming in the last minute of play to secure the win, 72-68. The Pioneers were led by Austin Marine with 17 points, followed by Tre Johnson with 14, Caleb McIntosh with 13, and Aaron Prim with 10. Marcos Williams led all scorers with 20 points for Henry Ford.
