Men Drop Heartbreaker to Mid-Michigan
Last second three defeats Pioneers
December 17, 2015
Mt Pleasant, MI – Back on November 14th, the Delta College men's basketball team dropped a tightly contested game to Mid-Michigan Community College by six points. That evening they shot 45 percent from the floor, hit six threes and were 11 of 17 from the charity stripe.
On Thursday, they played seemingly the same statistical game against the same team: 40 percent form the floor, eight triples and dropped in 18 of 29 from the free throw line. Yet, they lost by one 60-59, on a three-pointer with just seven seconds to go. The loss leaves them still searching for victory number one on the season as they drop to 0-10.
It is the sixth game on the year where they have lost by nine points or fewer and the third in which they have dropped the game by just three points or less.
In Thursday's contest, the Pioneers held a four point lead after the first half, 33-29. They were outscored by five in the second half however despite outshooting the Lakers from the floor and three point line. The biggest concern appeared to be turnovers, however, where DC committed 16 overall and Mid-Michigan didn't turn the ball over once the entire contest.
Tyler Ellis led the offense with 16 points while Alante Wheeler added 14 points and 11 boards. Dan Stenback scored 12 points on five of eleven shooting. Delta is back in action on Saturday as they play at Lake Michigan Community College.
