Basketball Contest to Aid Flint During Water Crisis
Fans are asked to bring a case of water as admission fee
January 20, 2016
University Center, MI – The Delta College athletic program is hosting a water drive as part of their double-header basketball games Wednesday night. The Pioneers men's and women's teams will be doing battle with Mott Bears of Flint, Michigan. To help combat the current crisis with Flint's water system, it is the hope of the Delta athletics to raise over 100 cases of water.
Admission to tonight's contest will be a case of water. Those wishing to donate at the door can do so as well with all funds going towards the purchase of clean, bottled water. The hope is that those planning on attending will promote this great cause amongst friends and family.
"Delta College is proud to have a group of student-athletes led by our coaching staff who came up with this idea", states Delta College Athletic Director Shelly Raube. "To us this is more than just a basketball game. It is an opportunity to come together to support a sister Community College and the Flint community with the terrible water conditions they are faced with."
Tip-off for the women's game is at 5:30 followed immediately after by the men's contest.
