PIONEERS DOMINATE LUMBERJACKS IN SEASON FINALE
The last time that the Delta College men’s basketball team faced off with the Alpena Lumberjacks, the Lumberjacks would give the Pioneers all they could handle and it took overtime to get the victory. Wednesday night would have playoff implications on the line and the outcome would be much different.

SOPHOMORES SHINE FOR PIONEERS
On Monday night, the Delta College men’s basketball team hosted their final regular season conference game of the 2017-2018 campaign. Prior to the game Pioneer fans, family, and the athletic department staff recognized the efforts of the six sophomores and the dedication they have given to the program.

With three games remaining in the regular season, the Pioneers were sitting in fourth place in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings. They would have a tough task ahead of them if they wanted to remain in the top four spots heading into post-season.

On January 17th, the Delta College men’s basketball team lost a tough game to the Schoolcraft Ocelots 84-81. Saturday afternoon they would travel to Livonia and look to even the score and push towards the top three spots in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings.

With five games remaining in the conference schedule, the Delta College men’s basketball team was in a must win situation Wednesday night. To stay in the top four positions in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings, the Pioneers would need to get a home victory over the Mott Bears.

The Delta College men’s basketball team had a huge home game against the first place Henry Ford Hawks Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pioneers could keep their title hopes alive and move up in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings.

Back on January 6, the Delta College men’s basketball team had a convincing home victory over the Oakland Raiders 96-69. In their first meeting, the Pioneers clicked on all cylinders and frustrated the Raiders right from the tip-off.

In front of a packed homecoming crowd the Delta College men’s basketball team began their second half of the MCCAA Eastern conference schedule. With a record of 5-3, the Pioneers were sitting in a two-way tie with Macomb for third place.

SHORTHANDED PIONEERS GRIND OUT VICTORY OVER LUMBERJACKS
The Delta College men’s basketball team came into Wednesday night’s game against the Alpena Community College Lumberjacks without the services of big man Peyton Miller for the second straight game and with several key players missing practice all week while battling the flu bug. After having several close conference losses, the Lumberjacks came into the game determined to get their first conference victory.

On Saturday afternoon, the Delta College men’s basketball team traveled down to Macomb to face off with the Macomb Community College Monarchs. Both teams came into the game sitting in the middle of the pack of the MCCAA Eastern Conference and both were looking to climb up in the standings.

PIONEERS LOSING STREAK REACHES THREE GAMES
The Delta College men’s basketball team came into Wednesday night’s game reeling after losing two games in a row to conference leaders Mott and Henry Ford. To make matters worse, they were facing the regional powerhouse Schoolcraft Community College Ocelots. Schoolcraft came into the match-up as winners of nine in a row against the Pioneers.

PIONEERS DROP DOUBLE OT HEARTBREAKER TO MOTT
There was a lot of hype surrounding Saturday’s showdown between the 11th ranked Delta College Pioneers and the 16th ranked Mott Bears. The rivalry between the Pioneers and the Bears has heated up in recent years. The three match-ups last season were settled by a combined total of thirteen points. In front of a packed crowd, Saturday afternoon’s game would go down as one of the most memorable. Delta and Mott battled it out for fifty minutes and it would take double overtime for the game to be decided. In the end, the Mott Bears would prevail 109-107.
