Delta Men's Basketball Starts the 2018-19 Season With a Win
The Delta College Pioneers jumped out to a 46-21 halftime lead over Rochester College JV and continued their dominance by defeating the visitors from Rochester Hills, Michigan 109-53. The Pioneers were led by Goliath Mitchell with 21 points followed by Trey Newsham's 19; Jakarus Smith's 17; and Evan Anderson and Aaron Collins with 12 each. Rochester was led by Raymond Luvine with 15 points. The Pioneers knocked down 11 threes a feat that took them four games last season. In addition, Delta went 18 for 21 from the foul (85.7%). Coach McMath was pleased with the defense as he stated to his players 'our help side rotation was very good as was our ball pressure all night.' He continued by saying 'we need to build on our successes and shore up our weak areas every game.' Delta will play two exhibition games before going on the road to play in the KVCC Tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 9th and 10th.
