Delta Softball Lands Several Recruits of the Greater Bay Region
First year Coach, Randy Mullard, hit the ground running landing several recruits for the Lady Pioneer Softball Program.
Lindsay Gutierrez
Lindsay is the daughter of Glenn and Carrie Gutierrez. The senior catcher comes to us from Ogemaw Heights High School where she is coached by Dave Mairose and Kristie Neubecker. Lindsay is an honor roll student, plans on pursuing a degree in nursing and specializing in trauma nursing. In her spare time Lindsay enjoys painting, shopping and playing sports to include softball and hockey.
"We are very excited to add Lindsay to our 2016-2017 roster; she brings solid catching fundamentals, a strong arm, a great bat, a very competitive attitude, and toughness."

Taylor Pitts
The senior infielder comes to us from Brown City High School where she is coached by Jeffrey Pitts. Taylor plans on pursuing a degree in occupational therapy. Taylor's softball awards include first team All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region; she has also earned multiple awards in other sports to include volleyball and basketball demonstrating her all-round athleticism.
"Adding Taylor to our 2016-2017 roster instantly gives us intensity and aggressiveness; Taylor is the kind of player whose uniform won't stay clean for very long."

Dayna Fennell
Dayna Fennell is the daughter of Steve and Theresa Fennell and has a brother Michael. Dayna is a senior at Gladwin High School where she has been a member of Coach Jill Keefer's varsity squad for four years. As one of the area's top utility players Dayna has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments; As a Freshman she was honorable mention all-conference and tied the school's homerun record; as a Sophomore she was first team all-conference and all district as an infielder; in her Junior year she received first team all-conference as a catcher, all district as an infielder, all region as an infielder, and all-state honorable mention for her play at shortstop; in her Junior year, Dayna also beat her own, and the schools homerun record and amassed a record breaking 77 hits. Her favorite memory is playing on the CMU softball field. While attending Delta she plans on getting her dental assisting degree and furthering my career in the dental field. In her spare time Dayna's hobbies include playing softball, volleyball, basketball, and spending time with my family and friends
"As a coach you can only dream about having players who can play multiple positions; Dayna not only plays multiple positions, she dominates everyone that she plays. The combination of her true versatility and big bat will have a definite impact from the very day she walks on campus."

Kalen is the daughter of Amy Moir and is a senior at Hillman High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the senior class vice president and currently ranks fourth in her class. She is coached by Rich Price. Kalen's awards include; All-Conference and All-Region, four Varsity letters and team MVP for volleyball; All-Conference, All-Area, team MVP, and three Varsity letters for basketball; and All-Conference, All District, All-Region and three Varsity letters for softball. While at Delta Kalen will be pursuing her degree accounting. Her greatest softball memory was hitting back to back homeruns with current Pioneer softball standout and her sister Jensen.
"An absolute fire baller with both the desire and work ethic to become even better!" Kalen will have an immediate impact on our success from day one and I can't wait to coach her and watch her perform; I wouldn't want to play against her!"

Cassidy DeFlorio
Cassidy DeFlorio is the daughter of Helen and Sean DeFlorio and comes to us from Mio High School, Cassidy is a true outfielder who can also play the infield when needed. She has several accomplishments in her three years as a member of Mio's varsity team starting in her Freshman year by being named to the all-conference team. In her sophomore year she repeated her all-conference performance and was also named to the all-district team. In her junior year she received all-conference, all-district, and all-region awards
"I am absolutely thrilled that Cassidy will be joining us next year; she is a very solid outfielder, has a great bat, good speed, is a smart ball player, and has been coached the right way from a young age. All you have to do is look at her awards through her high school years and you can see a steady progression in her skill and performance levels."

Kaylee Cypher
Kaylee Cypher is the daughter of Harvey and Laura and is a senior at Reese high school where she is coached by Andy Behmlander. Kaylee has earned several high school softball awards including All-District and All-Region each year; Honorable Mention All- State in 2013 and first team All-State in 2015. Kaylee plans on pursuing a degree in nursing. Her greatest softball moment was hitting her very first homerun.
"Kaylee will solidify our pitching staff; a solid pitcher who hits her spots and knows the difference between pitching and throwing. I know she has received solid coaching at Reese and that coaching, along with her personal drive has expanded her ability to play multiple positions and develop a great bat. She's going to be a fun player to coach! "

Carley Starnes & Laken Berthume
Carley is the daughter of Kim and Joe Starnes and is a senior at Coleman high school where she is a member of the National Honor Society, Board Scholars, and Academic All-State; in2013 she earned first team All-Conference, All-District, and All Region teams and was named as the offensive co-MVP; she followed her previous year's performance by being name to the first team All-Conference and All-District teams; and in 2015 she earned All-Conference and All-District first team honors as well. She is coached by Chad Klopf. Carley is currently undecided on her degree path. Her most memorable softball moments include winning both the district and regional championship in 2015.
"Carley is a true difference maker; she has all of the softball skills that any coach looks for and when talking to her you get a very strong sense of her leadership qualities; she is skilled, experienced and dedicated; combine those qualities and you have a game changer!"

Laken is the daughter of Neil and Kerry and is a senior at Coleman high school where she is coached by Chad Klopf. Laken has earned several high school softball awards to include being named to the first team All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region since her sophomore year; a member of a regional championship high school team; and has won two ASA State Championships with her travel team. Laken plans on pursuing a degree in sonography/radiology.
"Laken is a proven pitcher who simply gets the job done when she's on the mound; in addition to pitching she plays multiple positions and has a solid and consistent bat; she's another player that you just know will be a leader on and off the field; mentally tough, great work ethic, experienced and smart!"

Abigail Anderson
Abigail is the daughter of Ami and Terry Edmonds, has a brother Dylan and a sister Hannah. Abigail is a senior at Tawas high school where she is coached by Rick Collins. Abigail has earned several high school softball awards; she played a key role in her teams 2013, 2014 and 2015 district championships; was named to the All-District and All-Conference teams in 2014 and 2015; and holds the MHSAA record for the most doubles in a single season. She plans on pursuing a e in event planning and business management. Her greatest softball moment was hitting back to back homeruns against John Glenn.
"Abigail is a five tool player who has demonstrated the ability to take over games; she plays with passion and an unequalled enthusiasm; she is without question a leader and an impact players who will play a key role in our success!"

Kayla Guathier
Kayla is the daughter of Scott and Tacey Gauthier; she is currently a senior at Pinconning high school where she is coached by Fred Yanoski. Kayla has accrued an inspiring list of awards during her high school career to include; Academic: Renaissance Gold (x4), President's List, National Honor Society, Top Ten Athletic: Two Varsity Letters, 3 silver medals for three years on the Varsity Basketball team, Most Improved Player for basketball, Honorable Mention in Conference for Softball, First Team All-District for softball, Gold medal for four years on the Varsity Softball Team. She plans on pursuing a degree in engineering. Kayla's greatest softball memory was beating Reese in the state quarter finals; that win gave the Pinconning Spartan the opportunity to complete at the home of the MSU Spartans Secchia Stadium.
"Kayla is a true gap to gap power hitter; she is mechanically sound in every aspect of the game and is one of the smartest ball players on the field; her leadership, desire to win, and pure competitiveness drive her toward consistent improvement. In addition her ability and willingness to play multiple positions makes her one of the most versatile players that we have recruited for the 2016-2017 roster!"

Alicia Adams
Alicia Adams is the daughter of LaLena Adams-Freeburn and step-father William Freeburn. She is currently a senior at Pinconning high school where she is coached by Fred Yanoski. She will be pursuing he Associated in Arts degree while at Delta. An excellent student, Alicia has amassed awards in renaissance, academic excellence, certificates of perfect attendance and many more awards for the school and softball. She has been playing softball since t—ball and has been a member of the Pinconning varsity squad for four years. She enjoys other hobbies like horse competitions, for the Pinconning Equestrian Team where she was very competitive and was awarded top ten honors all four years. Horses and softball are two of the main priorities in her life if she's not at a softball game she's at a horse show and vice versa. Alicia's best moment in softball is when she hit a walk-off homerun.
"Alicia is another versatile player with pure speed being one of her greatest assets; when she's at the plate I'm convinced that the only person that can get her out is herself; she can hit for average, hit for power, steal bases, and run down balls that most players can't get to; I can't wait to see her grow!"

Kelsie Sangsland
Kelsie is the daughter of Roger and LeAnn and is currently a senior at Standish high school. She has earned awards for outstanding performance 2013; Honorable Mention Al- Conference in 2013/2014; First Team All-Conference in 2015; team MVP 2015; First Team All-District 2015. Her greatest softball moment was batting in the go ahead and winning running run against Pinconning.
"Kelsie fits our mold; she's a multi-position player with good speed, power, and game sense; at the plate she's a difficult out and in the field she can be counted on to make the plays that supposed to be made; One of her greatest assets is a solid work ethic; another fun player to coach!"
