Lansing, MI - The Delta softball team faced league leading Lansing on Tuesday in a MCCAA crossover contest that saw the Stars sweep the Pioneers by the scores of 7-1 and 15-7. The losses drop Delta's season record to 3-9 while their MCCAA Eastern Conference record remains 0-2. Lansing meanwhile improves to 6-0 in the Western Conference and 15-11 overall.
In game one, Delta was limited to just two hits over seven innings including a double by Katlyn Blake. Mackenzie Eurich pitched five inning for Delta in taking the loss while striking out five Stars hitters. Jensen Tchorzynski pitched the final two innings in relief, striking out three.
Game two saw the offense come to life for Delta as Cassidy Reichard, Alyssa Westphal and Taylor Wozniak each had two hits in three at-bats. Blake, meanwhile, kept her torrid hitting streak in check by by blasting a home run and collecting three RBI. Lansing's offense however was just too much as Shelby Bailey took the loss in the circle for Delta lasting two innings before being relieved by Blake.
Delta's next contest is scheduled for Friday at Schoolcraft Community College for a 3pm double-header.
