Port Huron, MI – The Delta softball team traveled to St. Clair County Community College (SC4) on Tuesday to face the Skippers in a double-header MCCAA Eastern Conference contest, winning game one 7-2 before finishing the sweep with a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Delta is now 2-2 in the conference and 5-10 overall.
Jensen Tchorzynski picked up the win in game one, throwing a complete game while striking out six. She is now 3-2 on the season. Offensively, Alyssa Westphal provided a big blow with her first homerun of the season to help Delta streak out to a 5-0 before SC4 closed the gap. Shelby Bailey went 3-3 while Blake Garner collected three hits of her own to go along with two runs and an RBI.
Game two saw Delta again get an early lead, scoring two runs in the second inning. The Skippers would cut it half in the sixth with a single run of their own but Pioneer pitcher Shelby Bailey recorded a scoreless seventh inning for her first win of the year. She limited SC4 to six hits through seven innings while striking out three.
Offensively, DC was led by six different hitters that collected one hit each. Bryanna Collins had a double and an RBI while MacKenzie Maxon plated the only other run for the Pioneers.
