Delta Climbs to #3 in the latest NJCAA Rankings
After a strong showing against Schoolcraft, Delta jumps two spots to number 3 in the latest rankings.
After the great game against Schoolcraft, the Lady Pioneers were wondering how far that they would climb in the latest poll. The answer was two spots, as they are now the #3 team in the NJCAA D3 Poll. Schoolcraft themselves also benefitted, moving up to #7. On the year Delta has amassed an 11-1-1 record with both of their non-wins coming at the hands of the talented Ocelots. This is not the first time a Delta team has been ranked, but it is the highest they have been ranked in their seven years of existence.
"I'm so proud of these young ladies," Head Soccer Coach Paul Stenglein said. "We discussed our goals for the season at the start of August, and they have worked hard to accomplish many of them."
Entering postseason play, Delta will look to continue their great play and live up to their new spot in the poll. The NJCAA Region XII Championship Game will be played on October 18 at Delta College against Cincinnati State. Start time is 4:30 in the afternoon.
"As we head into post season play, our focus is on playing better and better each game," Stenglein continued. "Our road to a national championship is 6 games long. We need to focus on each game that is immediately in front of us. With the Region 12 championship game at Delta, we are excited to host this critical game on our home field. We hope to keep playing very well, and then this high national ranking should help us with a great seeding in the national tournament. This is a highly skilled and athletic team that has the capability of competing for a national championship. This is a very cool journey, and all I can say right now is 'Go Pioneers'."
