Soccer Battles with National Power

The DII No. 20 ranked Kellogg Community College women's soccer team hosted DII No. 1 ranked Delta College on Sunday, October 8 where they battled, but fell holding Delta to only a single goal.

Delta| L, 0-1

Earlier in the season, the Bruins met Delta, and a 4-0 loss. The game was different on Sunday, as the Bruins had many solid chances of their own, and only allowed one goal for the Pioneers in the first half. The score headed into the second half was 0-1 and would remain that way through the rest of the match.

Head Coach Levi Butcher said, "We were a little more organized and solid than in our first meeting with them, and it paid off. I'm really proud of our effort and how we defended as a unit all day. We did a good job of limiting the Delta's dangerous chances. We had attacking chances of our own, but we were unable to find the goal that would have earned us the draw. Overall, when you play a top team, you need to make the most of the few opportunities they give you, and we couldn't quite make that happen today."

Up next, the Bruins host their Blaze of Glory game with Student Life on Wednesday, October 11. The tailgate fun begins at 3:30 p.m. and the game against Ancilla College has a 4:00 p.m. kick.
