Norse Fall on the Road, Return Home for "Volley for a Cure" Night

Piper Monroe extends for a kill as two opponents attempt to block

UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI – Bay College Volleyball (10-14, 3-7 MCCAA) dropped a match to Delta College (9-3, 7-3 MCCAA) on Monday evening, losing in three straight sets.  The Pioneers took the match with scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 25-13.

For the Norse it was a step back from the weekend.  Bay lost to Grand Rapids Community College on Saturday, but had a strong showing against the then ranked #10 team in NJCAA Division 2 (GRCC is now ranked #9).  The Norse opened that match in a spirited and intense first set, and had multiple opportunities to grab the first one, but the Raiders would prevail with a 32-30 victory in the first set.  They used that momentum to take control of the match and down the Norse on their home court.

Bay did not play as clean on Monday however, which resulted in a tough road loss.  Sixteen attack errors, six serving errors, five receiving errors, and six ball handling errors hindered any chances the Norse had of taking the match.  The road team posted a negative attack percentage in the third set, and was barely positive for the match.

Delta put together an impressive .421 attack percentage in the second set, compiling nine kills and just one error in 19 attempts.  They ended up with a .180 percentage for the match.  The Pioneers also collected six aces, one solo block, and eight assisted blocks in the match.

Kylee Tadisch (SO, Coleman, WI) led the Norse with five kills in the match.  Leah Allan (SO, Oconto, WI) and Olyvia Saxton (FR, Ithaca, MI) each added four kills.

Tori Jandt (SO, Peshtigo, WI) ended with 15 digs.

Delta was led by Haley Hunt (FR, Essexville, MI), who had seven kills.  Sarah Hauck (FR, Frankenmuth, MI) had a strong showing, picking up five kills, 21 assists, and 12 digs.

Bay will be looking to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening.  It is their last scheduled home match of the year and fans are encouraged to wear pink as the Norse will be hosting their "Volley for a Cure" match.  The volleyball team will be raising funds for cancer patients by hosting a bake sale, bucket raffles, and a 50/50 drawing.  The match against Alpena Community College begins at 6:30 pm.
