Eastfield Volleyball Moves on to National Semis

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Dallas College Eastfield's No. 1-ranked volleyball team swept Delta College, 25-17, 25-17, 25-11, in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III quarterfinals Thursday night.

It was the No. 1-seeded Harvester Bees' second sweep of the day and 28th of the season. Eastfield (33-0) will play 12th-seeded Alexandria Tech (21-6) in Friday's 6:30 p.m. CT semifinals.

The Harvester Bees hit .388, using 52 kills and a 9-4 block advantage to remain perfect this season.

Taryn Doiron assisted on 31 of the Bees' kills – 13 of which Brenly Walker put down for a .400 attack rate. Azoria Davis, Carli Banks and McKenzie Anderson each had nine putaways, and each of them hit .389 or better. Davis added 14 digs and two blocks.

Delta (15-6) had a .080 attack percentage, which included a -.030 rate in the third set. Eastfield had 17 kills in the second and third sets after putting down 18 balls to the tune of a .441 hitting percentage in Set 1.

Tied 13-13 in the opening set, Eastfield went on a 7-0 run to take control of the match through the midway point in the second set. That's when, despite the Bees buzzing out to a 12-4 lead on Denee Cullum's ace, Delta won the next five serves. The Pioneers tied the set at 13 on Ashlee Lenhard's kill, and moved in front on the next serve on an error by the Bees. But Eastfield climbed comfortably in front, 20-16, after back-to-back kills by Davis before putting Delta behind the eight ball with another set victory to move on top in the match, 2-0.

In the third set, Eastfield ran off eight of the first nine points – the latter coming when Davis put away a set from Doiron. McKenzie Anderson's ace extended Eastfield's lead to 19-8. Nine serves later, which punctuated with Banks' and Anderson's combination block, the Harvesters punched their ticket to the national semifinals.

Eastfield is headed back to the Final Four for the first time since 2018, when the Bees were the national runner-up.
