Delta Men Win Opener
Dominate Rochester JV, 103-68
University Center, MI – The Delta College men's basketball team opened it's 2016-17 campaign in convincing fashion Wednesday night as the Pioneer's cruised to a 103-68 victory over the visiting Rochester College JV team.
Leading by three points with six minutes to go in the half, Delta went on a 19-10 run to take a 12 point lead into the locker room at the half, 47-35. The Warriors kept the game close as the second half began, aided in part by Delta's cold shooting as the Pioneers started just one of eleven from the field. An 8-0 run at the midway point by DC gave them a commanding 16 point lead, however, and from there the rout was on.
Delta was led on offense by sophomore Devin Smith with 16 points while freshman Trey Newsham added 15. DoMariye Lloyd and Torion Wilson each chipped in with 12 while Virgil Walker added eight boards and two blocks.
Delta returns to action on Saturday as they host MCCAA – West foe Kalamazoo Valley. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
