Bio
2016-17: Appearing in 23 games and cracking the starting lineup 15 times, Virgil went on to average 7.3 points pergame while shooting 46.3% from the floor. In addition he averaged 7 rebounds and just shy of 1 assist per game.
Now entering his second season, Virgil came to Delta from Midland High School playing under coach Eric Krause where he was a 1st Team performer. His favorite memory is winning districts and is looking to transfer to a University after his Delta career to continue his basketball journey. Virgil is currently getting his degree in Business Management with a minor in sales. His biggest role model is his mother, Erin.

On Monday night, the Delta College men’s basketball team hosted their final regular season conference game of the 2017-2018 campaign. Prior to the game Pioneer fans, family, and the athletic department staff recognized the efforts of the six sophomores and the dedication they have given to the program.
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Pioneers were sitting in fourth place in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings. They would have a tough task ahead of them if they wanted to remain in the top four spots heading into post-season.
On January 17th, the Delta College men’s basketball team lost a tough game to the Schoolcraft Ocelots 84-81. Saturday afternoon they would travel to Livonia and look to even the score and push towards the top three spots in the MCCAA Eastern Conference standings.

As a result of the hot start, the Pioneers are currently ranked number thirteen in the nation and are expected to crack the top ten when national rankings are released this week.
While it is still early in the conference season, the Delta Pioneers had a lot on the line Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers had an opportunity to do something that had never been done in school history, start a season off 10-0. They also had a chance to end a four game drought against conference foe Oakland Community College. The last time that the Delta College men’s basketball team had beaten the Raiders was back in the 2014-2015 season.
Thursday night, the Delta College men’s basketball team opened up the MCCAA Eastern conference season on the road at Wayne County Community College. The Pioneers were looking to keep their undefeated record intact and keep their impressive season rolling.
The Delta College men’s basketball team was on a mission to accomplish something that had only been done once before at Delta College, finish off the pre-conference season undefeated. To accomplish their goal, they would have to get passed a tough and scrappy Muskegon Jayhawk ball club. Not only had the Jayhawks lost some tight ball games but they would also have the services of point guard DeQuaveon Stuckey for the first time in the season. It would be a tough battle if the Pioneers wanted to push their record to 8-0.
The Delta College Men’s basketball team continued their early season dominance with a big road win over the Lake Michigan Community College Redhawks 100-85. Not only did the win keep the Pioneers undefeated at 7-0 but it moved them up three slots in the national rankings from number sixteen to number thirteen.
The last time the Delta College men's basketball team beat the Lansing Community College Stars was in the 2009-2010 season. Over the course of the past seven seasons the Pioneers have had some close battles with the Stars but hadn't found the win column. Friday night the Pioneers were looking to get over that hump and flip the script on the Lansing and Delta rivalry.
Monday evening the Delta College men’s basketball team hosted the Olivet College Comets. Coming into the matchup with the Pioneers, the Comets had beaten Lansing Community College and had found success early on in the 2017-2018 season. The Pioneers knew they would have to handle the Comet pressure and match their intensity if they wanted to get the win and remain undefeated.
The team this year will have some familiar faces, but will also be aided by 9 freshmen and 3 transfer students.
