Delta Women's Soccer Win Two Games Over the Weekend
The Delta College Pioneer women's soccer team won two games over the weekend defeating Lake Michigan 4-0 on Friday and then taking a 5-1 decision on Sunday against the Jayhawks of Muskegon Community College. The weekend victories guaranteed the Pioneers a share of the MCCAA Conference title. A win on Wednesday over Schoolcraft would give them the title outright.
In Friday's game against Lake Michigan, Hunter Kukla scored twice with Hope Emmington and Kaitlyn Larrea adding one goal each. Kalyn Breckenridge stopped all four shots the Lakers put on net to record the shutout. On Sunday, the Pioneer's Hannah Emmington scored twice and received support from Casey Allessie, Kaitlyn Larrea, and Hope Emmington who each scored a goal. Delta outshot the Jayhawks 19-5 and, as the shot differential would indicate, the Pioneers offense and defense dominated Muskegon. The Jay Hawks lone goal came midway through the second half off the foot of Emily Winicki. Delta's last conference game will be played at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 10th at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.
