PIONEERS PICK UP BIG WIN ON THE ROAD
Game Outcome:
Delta College traveled to Lakeland CC for a non-conference game. Delta scored their game winning goal in the ninth minute of the game when Kiah Nichols sent a slotted thru ball to Emily Bucholtz who put a shot past the Lakeland Keeper. The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead into halftime. Delta scored two more goals in the second half to earn a 5-0 shutout victory for the Pioneers. This win brings Delta's record to 15-0-0 in the conference and 18-0-0 overall, which keeps them in first place in the MCCAA.
Standout Players of the Game:
Two goals by Rhianna Schermerhorn along with two assists each by Kiah Nichols and Peyton Pratt insured that the Pioneers would extend their win streak to eighteen games. On a very wet and frigid day, Delta was incredibly happy to come away with a solid performance.
Highlights from the game:
The weather conditions had an impact on the ability to move the ball easily around the field. Delta was not going to allow that from insuring another road victory. Delta's relentless offensive pressure and smothering defensive style of play was the key to the win today.
Game Statistics/Outcome:
- Delta-5 & Lakeland-0
- Shots on Goal: Delta-16 & Lakeland-1
- Keeper Saves: Delta-1 & Lakeland-11
- Corner Kicks: Delta-12 & Lakeland-0
