Delta College Women’s Soccer Triumphs 2-0 Over St. Clair County Community College
In a dynamic display of skill and teamwork, the Delta College women's soccer team secured a commanding 2-0 victory over St. Clair County Community College (SC4) on Saturday afternoon. The match, held at SC4's home field, showcased the team's promising form as they kicked off their 2024 season.
From the commencement of the game, Delta College established dominance. The squad, guided by Coach Damon Amey, demonstrated a high level of intensity and strategic precision. Within the first 10 minutes, the forward/ midfielder Molly Siler made an early statement with a stunning goal. Receiving a perfectly timed pass from midfielders Anna Sabo and Kendall Jackson, Siler weaved through St. Clair's defense and delivered a powerful shot into the net. The goal set the tone for the remainder of the match, with Delta taking a 1-0 lead.With the momentum that Delta had, Grace Sczepanski capitalized on a clever pass from defender Katie Roti. Sczepanski struck a powerful shot past the St. Clair goalkeeper, making the score 2-0 within just 16 minutes of the game.
St. Clair County Community College produced a series of counter-attacks in an attempt to adjust, but Delta's defensive unit remained firm. Goalkeeper Mia Warner made a series of three crucial saves, and allowed a total of zero goals to be scored for the entire duration of the game.
