March 28, 2025 – Sports Force Park
Delta College opened its weekend on the road at Sports Force Park against Alpena Community College but came up short in a tightly contested 8-5 loss. Despite a strong start, the Pioneers were unable to maintain their early momentum as Alpena mounted a steady comeback.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, capitalizing on key hits from Layke Hornung, David Walsh, and Joseph Kowalak. However, Alpena responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and continued to chip away at the deficit.
Delta College struggled offensively in its second game of the day, falling 8-0 to Muskegon Community College. The Pioneers were held to just one hit as Muskegon's dominant pitching and steady offense controlled the game from start to finish.
Delta College's lone hit came from Landon Jackson, but the team struggled to generate any offensive momentum against Muskegon's starting pitcher, Javanni Johnson. Johnson threw a complete-game shutout, striking out nine while allowing just one hit and three walks.
March 29, 2025 – Sports Force Park
Delta College picked up its first victory of the weekend with a strong offensive showing, defeating Bay College 10-6. The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, powered by home runs from Layke Hornung and Calvin Gouin.
The Pioneers struck early, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding six more across the third and fourth frames to build a commanding 9-0 lead. Calvin Gouin led the charge with a five-RBI performance, including a home run and a sacrifice fly. Hornung added a solo shot of his own, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Following the strong start to the day, Delta fell to Grand Rapids Community College 12-3. The Pioneers were held to just six hits, with notable performances from Calvin Gouin, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jack Berthiaume, who also drove in a run. Despite a strong start, the team couldn't contain the Grand Rapids offense, which exploded for five runs in the fifth inning and added four more in the sixth. Tyson Bauman took the loss on the mound for Delta, while Thano Klett earned the win for Grand Rapids, tossing five solid innings. The Pioneers will look to bounce back in their next contest.
March 30, 2025 – Sports Force Park
In the final game of the weekend, Delta College suffered a tough loss to Mid Michigan college 18-6. The Pioneers struggled to contain the Mid Michigan offense, which exploded for 10 runs in the first inning alone. Despite the tough start, Delta responded with a strong offensive effort, totaling 10 hits, including a solo home run from Dylan Rodriguez. Other standout performances came from Trevor Ramsdell, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Layke Hornung, who drove in a run. However, the Pioneers couldn't recover from the early deficit. David Walsh took the loss on the mound, while Luke Sherman earned the win for Mid Michigan.
