Delta Rallies Strong but Falls Short in Final Seconds Against Kirtland
Pioneer Gym, January 11, 2025 – A spirited comeback effort by Delta College fell just short as Kirtland Community College held on for a nail-biting 78-75 victory in a tightly contested men's basketball matchup.
Delta College trailed 35-25 at halftime but mounted a strong second-half rally, outscoring Kirtland 50-43 behind clutch performances from Evan Booker and Jaylen Carthan. Booker poured in 21 points, including a perfect 4-for-5 from the free-throw line, while Carthan contributed 16 points and 4 assists, keeping Delta within striking distance until the final buzzer.
Despite their efforts, Delta struggled to contain Kirtland's perimeter shooting and second-chance opportunities, as Kirtland's balanced attack and dominance on the boards (40-38) proved too much to overcome.
