Delta College Men’s Basketball Dominates North Central Michigan
The Delta College men's basketball team continued their season with an impressive 85-65 victory over North Central Michigan on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Petoskey Plastics Arena.
Delta came out firing in the first half, building a commanding 45-25 lead by halftime. Although North Central matched their scoring in the second half, Delta's early dominance proved insurmountable, leading to the Pioneers' decisive win.
Standout Performances
Jayden Hackett stole the show for Delta, putting up a stellar 28-point performance while shooting an efficient 11-of-18 from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Hackett also grabbed nine rebounds, showcasing his versatility and leadership on the court.
Evan Booker added 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists, playing a crucial role in facilitating Delta's offense. Jaylen Carthan contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Drew Gerwolls added eight points and five rebounds off the bench, further highlighting Delta's depth.
Team Stats
Delta College shot 47.3% from the field and 40% from three-point range, displaying their offensive efficiency. Their defense also played a key role, forcing 19 turnovers and limiting North Central to just 18.2% shooting from beyond the arc.
North Central's Efforts
For North Central Michigan, Thomas Conzelmann and Jalen Williams led the scoring with 16 points each. Jackson Wiegerink added 12 points and eight rebounds, but their efforts weren't enough to overcome Delta's balanced attack and defensive pressure.
