Men's Basketball Coaching Roles Confirmed: Brandon Bennett as Head Coach, Mike Stewart as Associate Head Coach
In a move that solidifies the direction of Delta College's athletic program, Brandon Bennett was officially named head coach today, shedding the "interim" title and embracing the permanent role.
"I am very proud to announce the removal of the "Interim" tags of both Head Coach Brandon Bennett and Coach Mike Stewart. Both Coach Bennett and recently hired Coach Steward have begun laying a positive foundation with our men's basketball program. This move will provide stability for current players, knowing these coaches will be leading them in the future as well as help bring in new students. They have also both demonstrated their commitment and dedication to our men's basketball student-athletes and are both well deserving of this change. I am very excited for the future ahead for our men's basketball program.'" said Brad Barlog, Director of Athletics and Student Development.
Bennett has already made a significant impact on the team and the broader Delta College community. He took over during a transitional period but quickly earned the trust of players, staff, and fans alike.
Adding to the excitement, the program also announced Mike Stewart as the official associate head coach. Stewart, who has been a key part of the coaching staff for less than a month, brings a wealth of experience.
The decision signals a new chapter for Delta College. With Brandon Bennett and Mike Stewart now officially on board, the team's future looks bright." I just want to thank Brad for believing in the coaching staff. It has always been a dream to be a college head coach. I can finally give back to the boys and be the coach I never had" says coach Bennett. "I am excited to bring new energy and a new approach to Delta basketball. I appreciate the opportunity to work with coach Bennett and the guys" said Stewart.
The Pioneer community is invited to celebrate this milestone at tomorrow's game at home against the Norse of Bay College. For now, all eyes are on Bennett and Stewart as they lead the team into this exciting new era.
