The Lady Pioneers faced a challenging start to the season, dropping their first three games on the road. Despite trailing in each game from the first quarter, they fought hard, ultimately falling by narrow margins. Head Coach JB Brown admitted his rotation choices may have impacted their play, and he is committed to making adjustments moving forward.
In Game 1 against Macomb, Jaleeah Griggs led the Pioneers with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Game 2 against Marian University-Ancilla saw Hailee Jefferson post one of her two double-doubles of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Kayla Howell added 15 points. In Game 3 against Mott, Jefferson excelled again with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while freshman Jaelyn Ayala added 13 points and 6 rebounds.
After the tough losses, Jefferson apologized for not stepping up sooner, while Ayala emphasized the importance of teamwork. Coach Brown echoed these sentiments, vowing to implement better strategies to set the team up for success as the season progresses.
