Delta College Women's Basketball Season Recap
In our program, we have a saying progress, not perfection
And if nothing, our season shows that.
From having a roster with only eight players last season to having a full roster this year shows that we were taking steps in the right direction and getting young ladies interested in playing basketball at Delta .
Improving on our overall team record from last season to improvements in our individual player, accolades Hailee Jefferson being voted as all region 12 and first team on northern conference Jaleeah Griggs being voted the defensive player of the conference, the odd defensive team and second team all conference both Carah McCrum and Kayla Howell being voted third team all Conference placed four of our players as the top 16 players in the northern conference, follow back with Jaelyn Ayala, receiving honorable mention votes as a freshman, speaks volumes to progress, not perfection as each one of those players mentioned made a step up from where they were last year.
As a coach, all I ask of my players is to step forward, learn from the losses and learn from the mistakes because within those things is where you find progress, once we all progress together that's when we will start to win. The steps made this season will only make the program better moving forward with eager, returning players and exciting recruits coming in; these lady pioneers won't be in the middle of the pack for long.
Looking at MCCAA regional tournament games this past weekend and realizing half of our losses came to teams that are either going to the national tournament or compete in the final four, which shows that we aren't ducking any competition and play a tough schedule to prepare us for the tough northern conference schedule.
We are proud of the effort put forth by our team to make us a competitor within the conference, and I believe through the votes that our players receive for end of year awards, it shows the respect that they garnished from other coaching stashes throughout the conference.
With the right work and moving forward this spring and summer will show a lot for what we have in store this upcoming season, which wouldn't be possible for myself as a head coach without those eight sophomores who decided to go out on a limb with me in a rush of a 23-24 season and for that I will forever be appreciative and do my best to make this program proud… we are excited for the future!
Progress not perfection ….
