Delta College Women's Volleyball Team Dominates in Straight Sets
In an impressive demonstration of skill, the Delta College's volleyball team defeated Macomb Community College in three straight sets on Wednesday, September 4 during their first home game of the season. The home team's dominance was evident from the first serve, with strong performances from Ashlee Lenhard with a .500 K% and Sarah Hauck who distributed the ball which led to the hitters not having to face strong blocks from the opposing team.
Coach Angie Compton praised the team's effort, stating, "Our defense was really strong tonight, there's a lot of pressure on the DS's as they set the tone for every play and tonight our little crew got the job done. That allowed for our offense to function at a level closer to where we want them."
The first set ended with a score of 13-25, followed by another convincing win in the second set with 16-25. The final set was sealed with a score of 20-25, concluding the match on a high note for the Pioneers.
After last weekend's disappointing loss, "it was really important to us that we show up and improve ourselves at our first home game tonight." says Compton "I am really proud of the girls for their effort and energy and for finishing." The victory not only enhances the team's record but also fuels their confidence as they look ahead to the rest of the season. They will take on Southwestern Michigan and Henry Ford College at the Macomb Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, September 7.
