Women's Volleyball Pre-season Rankings
As the 2024 volleyball season approaches, anticipation is building and the rankings are heating up. After last year's season coming to an end at the 2023 NJCAA Division III volleyball championship, Delta College's volleyball team has lost their all-American outside hitter, Kayla Baase. Other players that were lost and had a notable impact on the volleyball team are Mimi Decroce and Sarah Wilkinson. Although the team feels the impact of losing these important players, head coach Angelique Compton says that Sarah Vanecar, Kaylee Swincicki and Sienna Ouendag are expected to solidify their defense. As far as their offense goes, Sarah Hauck, the returning HM all-American middle blocker, Ashlee Lenhard, and a group of new hitters will help them to be a strong force.
"The team was excited about being ranked 7th- having a great season last year allowed us to gain some respect in the volleyball world and this team is ready to fight to keep it that way," says Compton after the NJCAA Division III pre-season rankings came out. "I personally am not overly concerned with the ranking. We want to stay focused on getting better and growing throughout the season." The team has been working hard in the off-season striving to grow their connections and build substantial team chemistry. The team continues to have fun everyday and have high-hopes that this will translate into a solid season of growth. The volleyball team's first competition will be Tuesday, August 27, at Henry Ford College at 7 pm.
