DELTA COLLEGE ATHLETICS PARTNERS WITH EAST SIDE SOUP KITCHEN FOR MCCAA HUNGER GAMES
University Center, MI – Each year the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) encourages its member institutions to participate in a conference-wide food drive to collect items for a local food bank. Delta College Athletics will be hosting their MCCAA Hunger Game on February 21, 2024, in Pioneer Gym at Delta College. A donation of five canned goods or non-perishable food items will be good for one (1) admission to the games on February 21st.
This year, Pioneer Athletics will be partnering with the East Side Soup Kitchen located in Saginaw, Michigan. "The East Side Soup Kitchen provides meals and hope in the heart of Saginaw," said Executive Director Diane Keenan. "We are so grateful and excited to partner with the Delta College basketball programs. It is an excellent opportunity for the students to help battle insecurity in their community, and we are looking forward to growing the partnership," added Diane.
High demand items at the East Side Soup Kitchen include, but not limited to: Canned vegetables, canned fruit, applesauce, spaghetti sauce, tuna, pasta, pudding cups, fruit cups, and bottled water.
The women's basketball team will tip off against Grand Rapids Community College at 5:30pm. The men's basketball team will tip off against Grand Rapids Community College at 7:30pm. Games are located at Delta College in Pioneer Gym.
