The Pioneers fall to 2-2 on the season by losing to Grand Rapids Community College by a score of 64-84. Pioneers suffered their first lose at home of this early season in front of a huge a crowd on attendance.
The Pioneers fall to 2-2 on the season by losing to Grand Rapids Community College by a score of 64-84. Pioneers suffered their first lose at home of this early season in front of a huge a crowd on attendance. The Pioneers came out with great effort on defense but lacked the ability to finish through contact on the offensive end. Pioneers stellar play early on defense led to easy baskets on the offensive end which allowed the Pioneers to push their lead up to 12 points at one point in the first half. The short handed but aggressive Grand Rapids CC team fought back to cut the deficit to 3 going in to half. After half-time GRCC came out blazing and never looked backed pushing their lead up to 15 than ultimately to 20 points. DeMarkus Stuckey led GRCC with 32 points on the night while Calvin Ward chipped in 28 Points.
The Pioneers were led by Markel Bradshaw with 24 points and Benjamin Batts with 17 points. Coach McMath was disappointed in the lack of effort and intensity needed to get the win but optimistic stating that "our wins and losses have common dominators, it is up to us to make the change."
Pioneers look to rebound on Saturday at home vs. Kellogg Community College. Game time is at 3:00pm.
