Women’s Soccer Signs Begley to National Letter of Intent
University Center – Delta College head women's soccer coach Paul Stenglein is pleased to announce the signing of Lake Fenton senior Kaitlyn Begley to a National Letter of Intent to play for Delta College beginning with the fall of 2015. The highly touted Begley is a four-year starter for her varsity squad – a squad that hasn't lost a league contest in her three seasons on varsity – where she was named Most Improved, Rookie of the Year and Defender of the Year.
Begley's teams won the district during her sophomore campaign and she has also been named first team all league each of her three seasons as well as twice being named to the all-district team. Begley was also selected as an all-region player in 2014 and has twice garnered Tri-County Team of the Year accolades.
A captain of her premier league team, she has traveled the mid-west competing where she was selected to play on the LaForza Girls College Showcase team, a move that ultimately brought her to Delta College.
In her spare time, Kaitlyn coaches the 4-8 year old LaForza club team and works in a daycare. She plans on studying child development while at Delta in hopes of becoming a teacher.
"I chose Delta because of my fabulous experience with the coaching staff," said Begley. "Coach Paul and Coach Damon have been more than helpful. Being the homebody that I am, I really needed to feel the family environment and know that I would have people who care about me away at school."
"Their personalities and our interactions made my choice very easy. I'm so excited to continue my education and soccer career at Delta."
Head Coach Paul Stenglein: "The coaching staff is very excited to have Kaitlyn at Delta this coming fall. Kaitlyn is a natural leader and her upbeat personality will be a great fit on our team. She is a very impressive player that has a real sense for attacking the goal. We expect that she will immediately have a huge impact on our attacking unit. We are thrilled to have her as a Pioneer, and we are expecting her to be successful in the classroom as well as the field."
