COACH OF THE YEAR, AND SIX OTHER MCCAA CONFERENCE HONORS!
University Center, MI - The Michigan Community College Athletic Association announced the All-MCCAA women's soccer teams last week, Head Coach Damon Amey was named the 2023 MCCAA Coach of the Year. The Delta College Women's soccer team had six players honored for the 2023 season.
- Rhianna Schermerhorn: All-MCCAA First Team and All-Freshman Team
- Alexis Martinez: All-MCCAA First Team
- Macy Kammer: All-MCCAA First Team
- Tristen Cross: All-MCCAA Second Team
- Kiah Nichols:Honorable Mention
- Kaylee Shattuck: Honorable Mention
In the women's soccer individual season stats, several players stood out for their outstanding performance. Macy Kammer, Alexis Martinez, Tristen Cross, Rhianna Schermerhorn, Kiah Nichols, and Kaylee Shattuck all had impressive contributions to their team's success.
Macy Kammer, a sophomore forward, played in all 21 games, starting 17 of them. She scored an impressive 20 goals and had 5 assists. Kammer had a shooting percentage of .385 and had 38 shots on goal, with a shot on goal percentage of .731.
Alexis Martinez, a sophomore defender, also had a remarkable season. Martinez started in all 21 games and recorded 2 goals and 11 assists. She had a shot on goal percentage of .619.
Tristen Cross, a sophomore goalkeeper, had an outstanding season in the net. She played in all 21 games and started in all of them. Cross only allowed 4 goals, resulting in a remarkable goals against average of 0.19. She made 63 saves, with a save percentage of .940. Cross also recorded 16 shutouts.
Rhianna Schermerhorn, a freshman forward, had an impressive debut season. Rhianna scored 25 goals and had 6 assists. Schermerhorn had a shooting percentage of .316 and had 64 shots on goal, with a shot on goal percentage of .810.
Kiah Nichols, a sophomore midfielder, also had a significant impact on the team's performance. Nichols played in all 21 games, starting in 20 of them. She scored 4 goals and had 17 assists. Nichols had a shot on goal percentage of .651.
Kaylee Shattuck, a freshman forward, had an impressive debut season as well. Shattuck played in all 21 games, starting in 14 of them. She scored 15 goals and had 11 assists. Shattuck had a shot on goal percentage of .660.
Overall, these players played a crucial role in their team's success. With their exceptional performances, they contributed significantly to their team's scoring and defensive efforts. Their contributions helped the team achieve an impressive regular season record of 19-0.
