Schermerhorn, Kammer, Martinez & Cross Earn Division III Women's Soccer All-American Honors
University Center, MI - Four players from the Delta College Women's Soccer Team have earned NJCAA Division III All-American honors. Their play was not only recognized by their conference and regional coaches; they were recognized at the national level. These awards were earned by both our offensive and defensive players this season.
Rhianna Schermerhorn earned 1st Team All-American honors as she led the nation with 28 goals and 61 points. She was a dangerous attacking player who was difficult to contain. Rhianna also was the top offensive player in the challenging MCCAA conference which was comprised of Division II teams. She also earned 1st Team MCCAA and All-Freshman Team honors. These are very impressive accomplishments for a first-year student-athlete.
Macy Kammer earned 1st Team All-American honors as she was a top attacker in the nation with 21 goals and 5 assists. She was a precise attacking player who was exceptionally good at beating a keeper 1v1. Macy was one of the top offensive players in the MCCAA and earned 1st Team MCCAA honors. As a second-year player, she was a great leader for the younger players.
Alexis Martinez earned 2nd Team All-American honors as one of the top defenders in the nation with 2 goals and 11 assists. Alexis also earned 1st Team MCCAA honors. Alexis helped lead Delta to a NJCAA Division III record setting 20 shutouts. Alexis was a team Captain and an outstanding lead by example role model for the team.
Tristen Cross earned 1st Team All-American honors as being the premier keeper in the nation with a NJCAA Division III record setting 20 shutouts. She had a number of spectacular saves to give her the nation's top goals against average of 0.21 GAA. Her athleticism and tactical knowledge of proper positioning made her extremely difficult to beat. She only gave up 5 goals in the 24 games she started and played. She also was a top Keeper in the MCCAA and earned 2nd Team MCCAA honors. Tristen was a team Captain and she worked hard to set the team expectation at a very high level.
