University Center, MI - After a challenging matchup that resulted in a loss during the conference opener against Muskegon on Wednesday, the Pioneers exhibited resilience and secured an impressive home victory with a commanding score of 83 to 42 over North Central Michigan. The team, determined to rebound, kicked off the game with fervor, establishing a substantial 26 to 6 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Heading into halftime with a convincing 39 to 16 lead. The Pioneers continued their relentless performance in the second half. Embracing an aggressive and hard-working mentality. They played cohesively as a team, resulting in forcing 30 turnovers and orchestrating 21 assists. The game concluded with a remarkable 19 to 9 run, solidifying their triumph.
The success was a testament to the well-rounded team effort. As every active player contributed to the score's column. Notably, five players achieved double figures in scoring, highlighting the team's depth and versatility. Carah McCrum led with an outstanding performance, recording 23 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds. Hailey Jefferson contributed 17 points and an impressive 15 rebounds, while Ja'Leeah Griggs showcased her skills with 16 points, 5 steals, and 5 rebounds.
