FOUR PIONEERS RECEIVE MCCAA VOLLEYBALL HONORS
University Center, MI - The Michigan Community College Athletic Association announced last week the All-MCCAA Volleyball teams and conference awards. The Delta College Women's Volleyball team had four players honored for the 2023 season.
- Kayla Baase: All-MCCAA and Northern First Team
- Ashlee Lenhard: Northern Second Team and Northern All-Freshman Team
- Sarah Hauck: Northern Second Team and Northern All-Freshman Team
- Sarah Wilkinson: Northern Honorable Mention
In the 2023 volleyball season, the team had several standout players who contributed to the overall success of the team. Sarah Hauck, a freshman setter, had an impressive season with 67 sets played. She recorded 100 kills, averaging 1.49 kills per set, with a hitting percentage of .266. Hauck also showcased her playmaking abilities, tallying 604 assists, averaging 9.01 assists per set. She contributed 26 service aces and 223 digs throughout the season.
Ashlee Lenhard, another freshman, made her presence known as a middle blocker. Lenhard played in all 18 matches, appearing in 67 sets. She recorded 126 kills, averaging 1.88 kills per set, with an impressive hitting percentage of .347. Lenhard also contributed defensively with 39 blocks, consisting of 2 solo blocks and 37 block assists.
Kayla Baase, a sophomore outside hitter, had an outstanding season as well. Baase led the team in kills with 254, averaging 3.97 kills per set. Baase also contributed on the defensive end with 229 digs and 22 blocks.
Sarah Wilkinson, a sophomore defensive specialist, showcased her defensive prowess throughout the season. Wilkinson recorded 336 digs, averaging 5.01 digs per set. Wilkinson also contributed offensively with 8 kills and 23 service aces.
The team's individual statistics highlight the contributions of Sarah Hauck, Ashlee Lenhard, Kayla Baase, and Sarah Wilkinson. Their performances on both offense and defense played a crucial role in the team's success throughout the season. With their continued growth and development, the team has a promising future ahead.
